Service Description
This course includes a deep dive into the skills and abilities necessary to gain success in the literary world as a professional writer. Students are required to have taken WOI/101 - Fundamentals of the Literary Industry. This course includes the following classes: WOI/1000 – Introduction to Professional Writing Introduction to Professional Writing goes deeper into what it means to be a professional writer; including everything you need to begin planning your path as a professional writer. WOI/1001 – Designing Your Pro-Writer Career Being a pro-writer is more about entrepreneurialism than it is about artistry. Now, you’ll need to understand how to turn a starving artist into a thriving entrepreneur. It all starts with a plan… WOI/1002 – Understanding How a Pro-Writer Writes In this class we will explore how a successful pro-writer writes and produces content, and why. Here you will learn the principles of production that apply to the literary industry. WOI/1003 – Building Your Pro-Writer Business Plan You’ll learn the easy way to create, repurpose and put into action a business plan that gets results without pulling out your hair to get it created. WOI/1004 – Creating the Entrepreneur This class will give you the business basics you’ll need to go from starving artist to successful litera-preneur. WOI/1005 – Accessing Support, Resources and Creating your Literary Business Team In this class, you will learn what support assets you will need for Production, Distribution, Marketing and Sales of your literary product. WOI/1006 - Getting your First Gig In this class, you will learn some of the most effective ways of securing your first writing gig(s) and gain some insight on what not to do when approaching potential clients and/or publishers. WOI/1007 - Developing Clientele This class will teach you the basics of converting clients to clientele that will keep you fed throughout your career. WOI/1008 - Marketing for the Pro-Writer In this class you’ll learn how to use marketing to take control of your image and drive clients to your business brand! WOI/1009 - Project Management for the Pro-Writer This class is where you learn what you’ll need to know to take projects from idea to completion. WOI/1010 - Contracts, Accounting, Taxes and Other Legal Matters for the Pro-Writer This could be the most important class of the course for the serious pro-writer. WOI/1011 – Practicum Create your capstone project and submit it to Write On Press Editorial.
